¶ Introduction.

The week started with an unusual hype for me and my teammates. We began building a relationship with one another from the previous week so it was fun working with them.

We had our onboarding on Sunday, 11th of September, 2022. During the meeting, Drey, the bootcamp manager at Side Hustle asked each team to choose a team lead and an assistant team lead.

After the meeting, my teammates and I had a team meeting where we cast our votes in favor of or against selected individuals.

In the end, the team unanimously chose me, Abdulrahman Adigun as the team lead and OluwaBukola Idowu as the assistant.

After that, Agbo Ogechi Perpetua was given the responsibility of documenting our process which is something she absolutely enjoys.

¶ How Did We Execute The Project?

Let me begin by saying my teammates are the most sensible people I've ever had the opportunity to work with. Each person is smart, attentive and committed.

We envisioned being tired during the process of performing the project but what we did not envision was having to jump on calls every day. I'd say that was a mistake which cost us.

We got our project on Monday, 12th of September, 2022. The project was to provide a digital marketing strategy for one out of three companies and provide a content calendar. The content calendar was to have two days for blog posts and three days for newsletter.

The companies were; Kuda - a digital microfinance bank, Cowrywise - a savings and investment company and Safeboda - a logistics company.

Immediately after getting and going through it, we scheduled a Google meet for 9am that day.

At 12pm, seven people out of ten attended the meeting. We started by reading out the project we were given before deciding to start from the hardest part to the easiest part which was picking one out of the three we were asked to choose from.

We got to a crossroad after listing the companies out. To solve the problem, we were asked to cast our votes.

After the collation of votes, it was seen that Cowrywise had the highest number of votes so we decided to work on it. We rescheduled a meeting for 12pm the same day to enable us run researches.

At 12pm, seven people returned to the call. OluwaBukola was the first person to tell us about what she found out.

She told us about Cowrywise saving plans, their website interface and the problems she found out.

One of the problems she discovered was that Cowrywise was too serious. This is confusing but I'll explain in later sentences.

Oge was the next person to speak. She told the team about what she found out on Cowrywise social media platforms and blog.

On the social media platforms, we discovered that they posted five times every week with the exception of the weekends. They also did video, text and graphic content but never did carousels.

They have a strong Instagram and Twitter presence but their Facebook and LinkedIn was almost dormant.

We also discovered that the company did not jump on trends. This was what I meant when I said they were too serious.

On their blog, we found out that they never posted relatable things. Their major purpose is to sell which is not a bad thing but they fail to engage their customers.

After finding these things out and deciding to work on them, we proceeded to carve out a marketing strategy.

We first listed our marketing goals which were to draw more engagements and visits to the blog, help them gain more visibility on their social media platforms and get them more app downloads.

The next thing we did was perform a SWOT analysis which is the Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats analysis.

Performing it helped us identify their problems and where they were strongest. Believe me, running the analysis was the best thing we could do at that point because it made Cowrywise completely open before us.

After that, we used SMART goals to see if the marketing goals we had were attainable. Imagine our excitement when we discovered they were.

We couldn't finish our planning that day because we had been on the call for two hours already so we scheduled a meeting for 9pm the next day which was Tuesday, 12th of September, 2022.

Before ending the call, we decided that each person would provide a content calendar. We would pick out the best topics from each person's own then everyone would create content around it.

We were asked to provide our various calendars on Wednesday, 14th of September, 2022.

We maintained contact with each other using our slack channel. Everyone was meant to check in at least once in five hours daily as failure to do so would lead to payment of a fine.

Due to this, the rest of Monday evening and Tuesday had us checking in and making sure everyone was working on something.

On Tuesday night, we had another meeting. There, we talked more about the marketing goals and strategies and concluded on the content tools to use, the target audience and the reason for creating content which was to increase visibility and drive sales.

The meeting lasted for two hours, ending so we would get some rest and prepare for the next day.

The next day, we all presented our various content calendars. Everyone was given a chance to talk about what was in their content calendar before sending the document to the slack channel.

At this meeting, ten out of ten were present, making our team complete. It was the longest meeting we ever had because after each person was done presenting their calendars, we divided them into three sections.

We had the blog posts, newsletters and social media content. From each person's calendar, we listed the content and placed them under the corresponding section.

We managed to sort out the blog posts and newsletters which we would work on after the grouping was done.

Each person was given a chance to either agree or disagree on any topic then, the topic with the highest number of "yes" was selected.

The meeting was further moved to evening where we would conclude on the social media posts part of the calendar before the assigning was done.

On Thursday morning, we had the topics for blog posts, newsletters and social media posts neatly typed and numbered on the slack channel.

Everyone made their choice of topic before proceeding to work on them. We didn't have any Google meeting on Thursday and Friday because a teammate; Gift mentioned that it was wearing everyone down and making us too weary.

We all saw sense in what she said and agreed to everything. By Friday, everyone was done with creating their content and making designs to go with them.

My teammates are committed, I meant it. Tofunmi mentioned that she wasn't good in making designs yet she challenged herself and made beautiful designs.

At the end of Friday, we had our content calendar ready and prepared to document everything we did and learnt during the week.

¶ Things We Learned During The Course Of Performing Our Project.

Realizing that we are a team and everyone's opinion mattered was one of the biggest flexes of my team. Asides that, each individual learned different things.

Below are some of the things each person learned:

Ibunkun learnt how to design, use google docs and work with a team.

Rhoda learnt how to use google tools drive, sheets, docs etc and how to write content.

Tofunmi learnt how to write content and design using canva. She also learned about the influence of doing research on a content and how to use google docs and hyperlink.

Precious learnt how to do research on a content and its importance. Also learnt how to design with canva.

Bukola learnt how to design better using Canva. She also improved on her time management skills.

Oge learnt how to patiently understand and respect the opinions of other people, manage my time properly and work under a team lead.

Loretta learnt how to research and write content, use Google docs, and canva.

Faith learnt how to design using Canva, and to work better with a team.

Abdulrahman learnt team management, time scheduling, multitasking, teamwork, and how to set his priorities right. He can also use some tools (canva, Google apps) effectively now.

Conclusion.

The last one week has not only been amazing but educational. I'm certain that most of us had no clue what it meant working with a team until now.

Also, getting to implement what we learnt during our internship at the bootcamp has been exciting and we cannot wait to do more things.
